In “The Resurrection of the Promise” by Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets, there is a strong emphasis on how God’s saving grace, genuine faith, and acts of service come together for salvation. Thomas explains that making Jesus the central focus of our lives leads to salvation.

Making Jesus Lord of Your Life: What It Truly Means
How do you live your life? It might seem simple, but many of us struggle to answer it. We do not know where to focus, especially with the pragmatic diversions we encounter daily. Sadly, others lose their way and forget about God. But God’s saving grace is eternal and always ready to welcome us, especially when we learn to greet Jesus.
In John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Jesus is Lord, and through Him, we are saved. What does it mean when you make Jesus Christ lord of your life? It means we allow Him to lead us to the Father and remind ourselves daily to live as exemplary followers.
When we let Him lead our lives, we are not just merely believing in Him. We trust God and obey Him. Know that when Jesus is Lord, His will prioritizes personal desires, ambitions, and decisions. We consciously align our thoughts, actions, and lifestyles with His teachings in Scripture. Also, when we lose our way, we keep on praying. We seek His guidance in any area of our lives, careers, relationships, or daily needs. It also means letting go of bad habits that endanger us and those around us. You must also understand that you are doing it not because you feel obliged to obey God but because you love Him.
How many times have you experienced failure? How many times have you felt the burden of not achieving your plans? Challenges will arise in our lives, but making Jesus Lord means trusting that His plans are more significant than our own.

Surrendering and Trusting in God’s Plan
When we trust God’s plans, we fully believe in Him. We trust that even though things don’t always go as planned, He works all things for our good. Surrendering to God requires us to acknowledge His way. Ephesians 2:8-9 affirms that we are saved by grace through faith, not by works, so that no one can boast. Hence, it is not enough that we believe in Him. We have to have genuine faith. True faith means aligning our words with our actions.
God’s saving grace is the foundation of our salvation. Grace is God’s unmerited favor, freely given through Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. However, we have to do our work too. How can we show this to our Lord? We share kindness, positivity, and love in our daily lives. Not just by the way we treat ourselves but also by others. Together, grace, faith, and works form a complete picture of a life transformed by God—saved by grace, sustained by faith, and evidenced by love in action.

Experiencing the Blessings of Living in God’s Promise
As we go through life, we might encounter moments of spiritual war. In these times, we pray for God to lead us to salvation and into the land of promise – but a deeper spiritual reality—walking in God’s will, receiving His blessings, and living out His divine purpose. When we learn to embrace God’s Word and trust in His faithfulness, we experience the blessings of God’s promise.
Just as Israel was called to trust God for their inheritance, believers today are called to trust His promises. Like author Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets, we must live in the promise of salvation by making Jesus Lord in our lives.
The Scriptures detailed how the Israelites had to walk in obedience and faith to enter the Promised Land (Joshua 1:6-9). Likewise, we have to surrender and trust in His guidance. Today, we can find our ultimate fulfillment when we are willing to build a lasting relationship with Christ. As we grow in faith, we witness the blessings of peace, joy, provision, and eternal life, which are assured through God’s faithful promises.
Embrace God today and witness the richness and fulfillment that follows as you live in faith and obedience with “The Resurrection of the Promise” by Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets. It is now available in leading bookstores like Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
